Sometimes the best finds happen completely by accident.
We were down in Chandler near the 99 Ranch Market on Chandler and Dobson when we spotted something that instantly caught our attention:
85°C Bakery Cafe.
Now if you’ve ever been to California, especially San Diego, you may already know about 85 Degrees Bakery. We’ve visited their La Jolla/San Diego locations before and absolutely loved the fresh pastries, cakes, breads, and desserts.
So when we realized there was one only about 10 minutes from our house?
We had to stop.
The Chandler location is definitely smaller than the San Diego bakery — probably about a quarter of the size — but it still had plenty of fresh baked goodies that immediately made us excited to try it.
The moment you walk in, you can smell fresh bread and pastries baking.
Trays of sweet breads.
Fancy cakes.
Beautiful cheesecakes.
Fresh pastries.
Savory baked items.
Soft breads.
Desserts everywhere.
If you’re someone who loves bakeries, this place feels dangerous in the best possible way.

One thing we immediately noticed was how fresh everything looked. You could tell items were constantly being baked and restocked. Even though the store is smaller, it still had a huge variety of choices.
Some of the cakes looked incredible:
Black Forest cake.
Red Velvet cake.
Mango cheesecake.
Honestly, we wanted to try everything.
And what makes places like this fun is that it’s not just desserts. They also have lots of soft breads, savory pastries, and unique bakery items you don’t always find in regular chain bakeries.
It’s the kind of place where you walk in planning to buy one pastry… and somehow leave carrying a tray full of things you didn’t know you needed.
If you’re already shopping at 99 Ranch Market, this makes the perfect stop afterward.
And if you’ve never been to an 85 Degrees Bakery before?
It’s absolutely worth checking out.
That’s what Nana & Papa What’s Next is all about — discovering local hidden gems, fun food spots, and little adventures close to home that turn an ordinary day into something memorable.
